I agree. if a character's costume has a component to it, then you must have that component for the clearance.
(exceptions seem to be contact lenses and lightsabers..but i wont go into that one )
One of these days they might make a cool female SW character that DOESNT need body makeup and prosthetics (one can hope!)
With Asajj, you already have the joy of baldcaps (or head shaving) bodypaint, intricate facial tattoo makeup i can understand why youd want to skim certain areas, but thats part of her characters and she needs them all.
if you feel the makeup might rub off in certain areas, then invest in airbrush inks that dont rub off they cost more, but your blessed with makeup that stays put till you want it gone.

I guess I could put a bit of white stocking on that area of my arm.
The boots are going to be neccessary because troops involve alot of walking around outside. Imagine if it's raining or you are walking down a gravel road. Those bandages aren't going to make it.
She often wears boots, so it doesn't look out of place.

TOMS Vegan Ash Wrap Boot If these came in Men's sizes I'd have a pair already.
TI-9827, I am very interested to see your friend's Asajj with the upgraded wrappings. I think her costume will soon become the benchmark for TCW Asajj.

Be well, Thomas

A trick commonly used by the spandex superhero costumers is to glue a sole to the bottom of their fabric boots so they can walk comfortably outdoors. Some options I've seen them use include black foam or rubber insoles, the soles from dismantled sandals or shoes, and even soles that were cut from a thin black yoga mat.
Pam :-)

Those are brilliant. Wonder if they will match the colour of my wraps?
On the computer it looks pretty close.
Won't buy them yet though, getting a bit ahead of myself. Best to wait until this is actually an approvable costume.
How long do you suppose that will take?

If you are waiting for a character to be approved for 501st membership before committing to making said costume, then I recommend you NOT take on that costume.
There is no speculative costuming in the 501st. A new character, such as Azlyn Rae, or a new costume for an existing approved character, such as this week's version of agent Starkiller, only becomes approved in the Legion once there is an example already made to represent it.
Being the first does not equal approval. Approval is based on a great costume that precisely matches the selected reference.
As you read these boards you will read one piece of advise over and over again; Costume for yourself first. All other side effects, like membership to some club, recognition, being invited to costume events etc. may or may not follow. Your costume is for you.
Be well, Thomas

you could also get some rock climbers shoes and sew stretchy wraps to them then wrap them up your leg.

Be well, Thomas Thanks for the clear-up. I just wanted to make sure whether the was a process of "pseudo-approval clearance" ---> make-up ---> approval or not. Guess not.
Either way, it's still something I'm working on. I wouldn't sacrifice my dining room table if I didn't have fun doing so.

Better sacrifice your table than cute little sheeps in devotion to the Costume Goddess. ^^
The ... "wrap boots" are looking really good. Nice discovery.

How do the tusken raiders and Starkillers make their wraps?
Oh and I only asked how long approval takes because kids have been asking me why I don't look like the Asajj Ventress they know.

What a shame that I haven't seen this topic earlier!

This is the next set of standards that I would like to see finalized. Does anyone have any more suggestions for the proposed standards? I'll wait a few days for responses, and then I'll get them formatted for the approval process!
Pam :-)

And our new version of wraps is almost finished. Only one slipper left Next have to take good pictures. We´ve been bit busy to help others with their costumes. Two done, five more to go... + a photostand.
